Dunk One In for Cancer

Dear Friends,
My name is Will Schiffman. This year I played for the sixth grade A team for travel basketball. I have been assigned to do a “mitzvah” project for my upcoming Bar Mitzvah. A “mitzvah” is a good deed to people in need. I have chosen to run a Basketball Shoot Out benefitting The Jimmy Fund and I am hosting it at the Boston Sports Club in Westborough on April 28th.

I chose this project because when I was ten years old I was on the Westborough All Star Baseball Team. We had to raise money for The Jimmy Fund. My teammates and I met a boy our age named Josh who had cancer. He practiced with us before games and sat on the bench with us for every game. At the end of the summer my team raised the most out of all the teams in Massachusetts. We raised a little more than $28,000.

Unfortunately, Josh lost his battle with cancer later that year. So in honor of Josh I want to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I hope I can help kids win their battle with cancer.

Dunk One In for Cancer, Kids Helping Kids in the Fight to Foul Out Cancer will be a great way for kids in Westboro who love to play basketball make a real difference. We are inviting all travel and rec teams to participate. Suggested donation is $25 per player. My goal is to raise over $1000. This means only 40 kids would meet my goal. Wouldn’t it be great to exceed that goal?
